Influence of mud content on casting quality

If the mud content of casting Fused Ceramic sand exceeds the standard, the fire resistance and burning point of Fused Ceramic sand will be reduced, and the permeability of mold (core) sand will be reduced. Especially for resin sand, high mud content will greatly reduce the strength of mold (core) sand, increase the amount of resin binder, and the gas evolution of resin sand will also increase accordingly. However, strength, air permeability and gas evolution all seriously affect the quality of castings.

 

Influence of average fineness and particle size composition on casting quality

The average fineness and particle size composition of Fused Ceramic sand are important parameters related to the surface roughness of castings. Generally speaking, the finer the sand, the smoother the casting surface, and the greater the demand for binder, the greater the gas generation, which is common to all casting sands. Coarse sand with small average fineness value can be selected for castings with large quality or thick section; Fine sand with high average fineness value can be selected for castings with small quality or thin wall.

When selecting the particle size of Fused Ceramic sand, remember to copy the indicators of quartz sand in the past. The general experience is that when the particle size range of Fused Ceramic sand is wider, the comprehensive effect of using Fused Ceramic sand is better, and the particle size finer than that of quartz sand can be used. It is better to determine on the basis of test.
