Advantages and Characteristics of 200-Mesh Fused Ceramic Sand for Foundry Coatings

Basic Requirements for Raw Materials of Coatings

Casting coatings are required to have certain fire resistance, air permeability, fluidity, leveling, brushing, economy, etc.

Fused ceramic sand can replace zirconium sand, chromite sand, corundum and other refractory materials in casting coatings.

Fused ceramic sand has the advantages of good fluidity, high fire resistance and good air permeability. As 200-mesh fused ceramic sand product for casting coating, (Molding)which is suitable for resin sand, coated sand, sodium silicate sand, clay sand and other foundry process/ methods.

Why Fused Ceramic Sand is Suitable for Coatings

The 200 mesh fused ceramic sand used for coating, also known as the sand used for casting coating, has fine sand body, fine sand particles and sand like shape, which is also called high alumina powder. The composition is: alumina, and the raw material for production is bauxite. High temperature calcination, electrolytic aluminum smelting, grinding, with 200 mesh screen.

1.       It has excellent thixotropy and leveling, and the coating has no brush marks.

2.       Good suspension stability, easy to operate and use.

3.       Small gas evolution can reduce the occurrence of porosity defects in castings.

4.       After drying, the coating will not crack and bubble, and has high strength at room temperature.

      5.     Good sand resistance, smooth casting surface, easy to clean.

Application method of 200 mesh fused ceramic sand for casting coating:

According to the requirements of painting process, if it is necessary to dilute, ethanol and methanol (content 98%) can be used to dilute the paint to the required viscosity according to the paint: methanol =1:0.3 (Baume degree of 65-70 is more appropriate). Remember to dilute the paint too much to avoid affecting the suspension and painting performance of the paint.

Before use, it should be fully stirred. Generally, the casting can be brushed once, and the thick and large parts and parts easy to stick sand can be brushed twice. For large castings, the one-time coating area should not be too large, otherwise the quick drying effect will be affected.

This series of coatings are suitable for spraying, brushing, flow coating, dip coating and other coating methods.
