Self-set Furan Resin Sand

Furan Resin Self-hardening Sand Process

Furan resin self-hardening sand, as the most common acid self-hardening resin sand, is widely used in small and medium-sized cast iron and cast steel production lines and core making processes. As a widely used spherical artificial sand, fused ceramic sand combined with furan resin can not only reduce energy consumption, reduce labor intensity, improve production efficiency and labor environment, but also further improve the dimensional accuracy and the quality of castings. As the furan resin casting process of ceramic foundry sand has the characteristics of flexible and convenient operation and stable casting quality, it is especially suitable for the production of single piece and small and medium batch castings.

Cost Comparison of Fused Ceramic Sand Furan Resin Process with Silica Sand Furan Resin and Silica Sand Sodium Silicate Process

Due to the poor sintering and bad collapsibility of silica sand sodium silicate process, almost no used sand can be recycled as surface sand, and only 40% - 60% of the sand can be directly recycled as filling sand. A domestic factory adopts the furan resin process of fused ceramic sand and mechanical reclamation. The reclamation rate of ceramic foundry sand can reach to 98.5%.

From the perspective of raw and auxiliary materials consumed, the cost per ton of ceramic sand furan resin steel castings is slightly higher than that of silica sand sodium silicate and lower than that of silica sand resin. However, as the process of fused ceramic sand furan resin has many advantages that silica sand sodium silicate does not have, as long as the characteristics of fused ceramic sand furan resin are fully used, the casting cost can be reduced on the premise of ensuring the quality of castings.

Fused Ceramic Sand to Improve Casting Quality and Reduce Casting Scrap Rate

The repair and scrap of castings are additional consumption of casting cost, which is directly related to the whole casting cost. It can be seen that ceramic foundry sand furan resin process has more cost advantages than silica sand sodium silicate process, but ceramic foundry sand furan resin process also has its own characteristics, which need to be controlled in the production process.

(1)It's necessary to carry out technical training for all staff, and promote employees to consciously and actively improve their skills through theoretical study and on-site practice.

(2)Establish and improve various process procedures and strictly implement process disciplines. Carry out on-site operation according to process requirements.

(3)It needs special training for operators of sand mixing equipment. According to the regulations: pre-use inspection, post-use cleaning and regular maintenance.

(4)In addition to smelting molten steel in strict accordance with the process, it is necessary to master the characteristics of slow, stable and fast casting of Ceramic foundry sand furan resin. That is, the start and end of pouring should be slow, and the intermediate process should be stable.

(5)Control the unpacking temperature below 550 . Premature unpacking is easy to cause casting cracking.

Economic and Social Benefits of Furan Resin Process for Fused Ceramic Sand

As ceramic foundry sand applied in furan resin process has good collapsibility, high recycling rate. Compared with the traditional sodium silicate sand process or silica sand furan resin process, the discharge of waste sand is less. The reclamation equipment is simple, and high regeneration rate can be achieved only by simple secondary mechanical friction regeneration. Less investment in fixed equipment and short adaptation cycle of employees. On the basis of the original workshop, a foundry installed sand mixing equipment and simple regeneration equipment to complete the upgrading of the casting process. After the transformation, the production capacity was rapidly and greatly increased.

To sum up, ceramic foundry sand furan resin process has unparalleled advantages over the traditional silica sand sodium silicate process in the production of steel castings, saving at least a lot of costs every year, and is more environmentally friendly and economical than silica sand furan resin process. Through the improvement and control of the production process, not only high-quality castings can be produced, but also significant economic and social benefits can be achieved.
